Founder & Lead Instructor – Gatekeeper Defense Training

 

Adam Shrider is the founder and lead instructor of Gatekeeper Defense Training, providing structured defensive firearms and marksmanship training in Orlando and throughout Central Florida. He specializes in developing safe, competent, and performance-driven shooters through disciplined fundamentals and practical application across both handgun and rifle platforms.

Adam is a USCCA-Certified Firearms Instructor and holds additional certifications in Countering the Mass Shooter Threat, Concealed Carry, and Home Defense. His instruction is built on a foundational principle: the fundamentals of shooting are universal. Whether applied to personal defense, professional responsibilities, competition, or structured tactical environments, accurate and efficient marksmanship remains the core skill.

While specific disciplines require unique tactics and context-specific decision-making, the ability to manage recoil, track sights, control the trigger, maintain accountability, and deliver consistent hits under pressure applies across all firearms platforms. Adam’s training develops automaticity in core shooting mechanics so students can perform reliably while adapting to movement, time standards, environmental variables, and real-world stress.

Students train with Adam from a wide range of backgrounds, including responsibly armed citizens, church safety team members, experienced concealed carriers, law enforcement officers, private security professionals, and individuals seeking to elevate overall firearms proficiency.

In addition to firearms instruction, Adam brings over 20 years of experience serving in churches and ministry environments. He has worked major ministry events as part of organized safety and security teams, established church safety teams within congregations he has attended, and assisted other churches in developing structured safety programs rooted in responsibility, discretion, and servant leadership.

Training is conducted at a private outdoor range facility in Central Florida, allowing students to move beyond the static limitations of traditional indoor lanes. Courses incorporate:

• Performance-based handgun and rifle fundamentals
• Movement and positional shooting
• Engagement from seated, kneeling, prone, and grounded positions
• Accountability standards and decision-making under time

Every course is conducted with a disciplined emphasis on safety, clarity, and purposeful repetition. Instruction prioritizes marksmanship proficiency, responsible application of force, and the development of confident, capable protectors.
