CQP — Holster, Draw & Close-Quarters Carrycraft

This 3–4 hour specialty class is devoted entirely to carrying and drawing a defensive pistol safely and effectively. Whether students carry concealed or open, this clinic teaches repeatable draws, holster selection and fit, retention and emergency holstering, plus close-quarters defensive shooting and presentation under stress. Heavy emphasis on deliberate dry-fire practice before live fire.

Who This Course Is For:
Students must be competent and safe with a handgun (Practical Pistol 1.0 recommended). This is not a beginner carry class.

Please note: If a student demonstrates unsafe or insufficient proficiency, the instructor will limit participation in advanced live-fire drills for the safety of the group.

Who Should Take This Course?
• New and experienced carriers who want a safer, faster, more repeatable draw
• Concealed carriers who want specialized concealed-draw techniques (IWB/AIWB/tuckable holsters)
• Open carriers who want fast, safe presentation from OWB or duty rigs
• Anyone who wants to make informed holster and carry-setup choices

Course Breakdown: What You’ll Learn
✅ Holster Selection & Set-Up — which holsters work best for concealment vs open carry, retention considerations, and safe holster fit.
✅ Fundamentals of the Draw — step-by-step presentation: grip, break, index, press, and re-holstering.
✅ Concealed & Open-Carry Presentation — techniques for AIWB, IWB, OWB, and shoulder carry (draw mechanics and safety differences).
✅ Close-Quarters Engagements — shooting from retention/hip, compressed ready, and at distances inside 15 yards.
✅ Shooting from Different Ready Positions — high ready, low/compressed ready, and shooting from the holster/hip.
✅ Retention & Emergency Holstering — retention awareness, emergency holster techniques (dry practice emphasis), and safe re-holstering protocols.
✅ Malfunction Awareness — dry drills for stoppages encountered during or immediately after presentation (live-fire stoppage practice limited).
